How Interactive Surfaces Conquer The Workplace

The office of the future

Didn’t you always want a workplace beyond the ordinary? Having presentations on a large MultiTouch monitor or showing customers ideas on a MultiTouch table? Working with your teammates simultaneously on a giant video wall? Or using a digital work surface instead of having too many documents flying around?
Well goods news, the application of interactive products in offices has finally arrived!

The German institution ‘Fraunhofer IAO’ is researching this current topic and the idea here is as follows: Creating a better, efficient workflow.

By having a clean workstation, without sheets in piles or wires crawling over the desk can increase the performance. Equipped with a monitor and a horizontal MultiTouch display, this surface could be our future workplace. By the integration of the wires into the table, a complete wireless power supply can be created – which sort things up.

The company Dell also approached the subject and presented their first horizontal smart Display ‘Canvas’ on the Customer Electronics Show CES in Las Vegas at the beginning of this year. This 27” Touch-Display is compatible to almost every Windows system and can be used lying flat on the desk or based on a pillar, which can be adapted to the most varied requirements.

While museums, institutions, schools or creative agencies are already using several MultiTouch products, the office world remains untouched. So why not taking a step forward, leave the old ways of working behind and encourage this innovation process?

True to the notion: keep the post-its away and turn to digital workplaces!
